Bluetooth is a wireless communication technology that allows devices to exchange data over short distances. It uses radio waves to transmit data between devices, typically over a range of about 10 meters or less.
Bluetooth technology uses radio waves to communicate between devices. The basic principle of Bluetooth communication is that one device sends out a signal and another device receives that signal and responds accordingly. This process is known as “pairing”.
There are many different types of devices that can be connected using Bluetooth in home automation, including:
Smart Locks: Bluetooth-enabled smart locks allow you to unlock your door using your smartphone, without the need for a physical key. Yale Assure Lock 2 is an example.
Smart Lighting: Bluetooth-enabled smart light bulbs and fixtures allow you to control the lighting in your home using your smartphone or a voice assistant.
Smart Thermostats: Bluetooth-enabled smart thermostats allow you to control the temperature of your home using your smartphone, and can even learn your preferences and adjust accordingly.
Smart Speakers: Bluetooth-enabled smart speakers allow you to stream music and other audio content from your smartphone or other devices. For Instance, Sonos Roam Ultra Portable Smart Speaker.
Some smart switches i.e. Wemo Smart Light Switch with Thread also works with Bluetooth.
As the Internet of Things (IoT) continues to grow, we can expect to see even more devices that use Bluetooth technology to connect and communicate with each other.
